Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

This policy covers everything Arisam Inc. makes: the arisam.ca website — including enquiries, bookings and template licence sales — and the apps we publish. The website section says what we collect when you contact us or buy from us, why, who else handles it, and how long we keep it. Each app has its own section.

Website, enquiries and template sales

What we collect

When you send an enquiry or book a call: your name, email address, message, website if you give one, your language, and the country your connection comes from.

When you order a template licence: your name, email address, company (optional), billing address, and province or territory — which sets the sales tax — plus the templates you order and their prices.

As your order goes ahead: the invoice and receipt numbers; how and when you paid, and the payment reference; the address your templates were sent to; when your download links expire and how many times they have been used; and a record of each step of the order.

We never see or store your card details. You pay on a page hosted by Stripe, and your card information goes straight to them.

Your IP address is used only to check that you are a person rather than an automated script. We do not store it, though we do record which country it is from.

Why we collect it

To answer you, to fulfil and invoice your order and apply the right tax, to deliver your templates, to keep the accounting records the law requires, and to keep out fraud and spam. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

Cloudflare hosts the site, stores order records and template files, and runs the human check.

Stripe creates invoices and processes payment; it receives your name, email address and billing address.

Google Workspace sends our email and holds our mailbox. Google Analytics measures site traffic, only if you accept cookies.

These providers may store and process information in the United States and elsewhere, where it can be subject to those countries' laws.

In your browser

Your cart is kept in your browser's local storage, on your device, and is not sent to us until you place an order.

Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. Declining them does not affect the site, and you can clear cookies at any time from your browser settings.

How long we keep it

Order, invoice and payment records are kept for at least six years, as Canadian tax law requires. The personal details in enquiries that do not become an order are deleted after two years, and what remains of them after seven.

Your choices

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, except records the law requires us to keep. Write to our privacy officer at privacy@arisam.ca.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Our apps

Each app we publish has its own section below. If a future app handles data differently, it will get its own section here rather than a separate policy.

Backgammon Classic — app privacy

Summary

Backgammon does not operate any servers and does not collect any personal information itself. All game data — your settings, saved replays, progress, and statistics — stays on your device.

The one exception is advertising: users of the free version see ads served by Google AdMob, and Google collects some data to serve those ads. Users who upgrade to Backgammon Pro do not see ads and no ad data is collected.

What the developer collects

Nothing. The developer does not collect, receive, transmit, sell, rent, or share any personal information about you. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting SDKs, and no developer-operated servers.

What stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device only, so the app can function between sessions:

Game settings (board theme, checker style, language, timer preferences, background image, replay preferences)

Saved game replays (if you choose to save them)

Your game progress and statistics

Whether you have purchased Backgammon Pro (to unlock Pro features)

None of this is transmitted to the developer or any third party.

Advertising (free version only)

Users of the free version see ads served by Google AdMob. To serve these ads, Google may collect and process:

Advertising identifier (IDFA, if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission)

IP address and approximate location (derived from IP)

Device information (model, OS version, language, screen size)

Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is collected and used by Google, not by the developer. The developer receives only aggregate, anonymous ad revenue reports from Google and has no access to personally identifiable user data.

If you are in the EU, UK, or other regulated regions, the app will show a Google-provided consent form before any personalized ads are served, as required by GDPR and similar laws. You can decline personalized ads.

You can also disable ad tracking entirely in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or upgrade to Backgammon Pro, which removes ads completely.

Backgammon Pro

Backgammon Pro is a single one-time upgrade purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. There are no subscriptions and no other tiers. Pro users do not see ads and have no ad-related data collected about them. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple; the developer receives only Apple's standard anonymous receipt and aggregate sales reports.

Multiplayer

Local peer-to-peer multiplayer uses Apple's Multipeer Connectivity framework (Bluetooth / local Wi-Fi). Game moves are exchanged directly between two devices on the same local network and are never routed through any developer-operated server.

Children

Beyond Google's advertising processing described above, the app does not knowingly collect any other information from children. Children using the free version should be aware that Google's advertising systems apply to them as well; parents who wish to avoid ad data collection entirely can upgrade to Backgammon Pro.

Permissions

The app may request access to:

Photos — only if you choose to set a custom background image. The selected photo is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted.

App Tracking Transparency — in the free version only, to ask whether Google AdMob may use your advertising identifier for personalized ads. You can decline and still use the app normally.

No other permissions are requested.

Data deletion

Because nothing the developer stores leaves your device, uninstalling the app deletes all app data. For ad data held by Google, see Google's privacy controls at myadcenter.google.com.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a future version of the app, the updated policy will ship inside that version. The effective date above will be updated accordingly.
